This is a list of things that you can do whenever you like (but especially now as some of us have more time on our hands than we know what to do with)
It can seem daunting to think too far ahead into the future right now, so stay in the present moment with these tasks/activities and try to enjoy this more introverted time.
- Cook your favourite meal or come up with a new recipe
- Clear out your wardrobe from old clothes, shoes, accessories and bag them up for charity
- Clean your make up brushes with warm soapy water
- Enjoy the sun in your garden or stretch your legs on a walk when possible
- Sit and draw something that you've always wanted to try and draw
- Ring someone in your family or a friend and talk about something other than what's happening globally
- Read as many books as possible
- Practice plaiting your hair, or trying a new hair style/colour
- Volunteer to distribute food in your area to vulnerable people. OLIO app is great for this.
- Watch a Netflix series or rewatch some of your old favourite films
- Paint yours or someone else's nails
- If you feel creative, you could revamp a piece of old furniture with paint or maybe crochet/sew a cushion cover
- Clean your bathroom thoroughly (very satisfying)
- Compile a playlist of songs that makes you feel upbeat and energised
- Dust off the board games and have a play
- Make a To Do list of things you would like to get done in this time
- Take a relaxing candle lit bath
- Do an online workout, use YouTube or an app to find HIIT, yoga, Pilates and many more for free
- Wash your bedding
- Start learning a language you've always wanted to try - YouTube tutorials or Duo lingo app are great for this
- Begin a journal if you don't have one already. Writing daily can really help shift your mind set and support you in this time
- Take 5 minutes of your morning to sit still and in peace, focus on your breath and let your thoughts come and go without giving them too much importance.
- Ask for help on social media pages for specific things such as resources to keep children at home busy.
- Make a creative corner for your child/ren where they can have some materials to keep them entertained; cheap paints, pencils, card, cloth, glue etc.
- Suggest to the kids to make a den inside with pillows, sheets, duvets etc. and watch a film inside
- If you have a garden or big enough space, learn a new a new physical skill like handstands, or hula hooping
- Make collages out of old magazines
- Make a wish list of items on amazon or similar website for things you would like
- Organise your fridge so no fresh food gets wasted or thrown out
- Make a Whatsapp group (or similar) with close family to stay informed
- You can still support local businesses and get take away coffee, cakes, food as well as buy gift cards to use at a later date. (if funds allow)
These are just a few ideas to get you thinking of how to spend your days. There is no right or wrong way for people to work through this time, do whatever feels good to you and your family, and focus on staying calm and healthy.
